“we were going to die today, no matter what。 you didn’t just keep me alive, you made me live。”if a book can make me cry for an hour straight it gets five stars。 im sorry (im not) but those are the rules。 wow, just wow。 this book was beautiful。 there really is no other way to describe it。 if you haven’t read it, i highly recommend!

this book is absolutely beautiful。 i read so many books and this one had an impact on me that no other book has ever had。 It truly changed my perspective on things and I related to mateo to a scary amount。 I cannot stop thinking about it

very slow-burning。 definitely lost interest but it got a lot better around the last 100-50 pages。

a beautifully-told, compelling story about friendship and love and loss, They Both Die at the End was good but it just wasn’t。。。great。 I really wanted to love it like everyone else does, but I didn’t。 I really loved the representation and the concept, but I didn’t feel emotionally connected to the story, which makes me sad!! I wanted to love it so much! I did fly through it, though, which was nice。 I would probably recommend this book just because everyone else in the whole world has read it。

I really love this book。 It took me a while to get through, but that was because it was emotionally exhausting to get through。 Don't get me wrong, it was an AMAZING book and I think everyone, ever, should read this book。 It made me laugh, think, and cry (probably more of that than the others)。 It was honest and heartfelt and real。 (Also, the chapters a pretty short, and for me personally long chapters are a drag, so this made it a bit easier to get into。)Overall a fantastic book that EVERYONE sh I really love this book。 It took me a while to get through, but that was because it was emotionally exhausting to get through。 Don't get me wrong, it was an AMAZING book and I think everyone, ever, should read this book。 It made me laugh, think, and cry (probably more of that than the others)。 It was honest and heartfelt and real。 (Also, the chapters a pretty short, and for me personally long chapters are a drag, so this made it a bit easier to get into。)Overall a fantastic book that EVERYONE should read。 。。。more

"This loaded question is the reason I didn’t want anyone to know I was dying。 There are questions I can’t answer。 I cannot tell you how you will survive without me。 I cannot tell you how to mourn me。 I cannot convince you to not feel guilty if you forget the anniversary of my death, or if you realize days or weeks or months have gone by without thinking about me。I just want you to live。" "This loaded question is the reason I didn’t want anyone to know I was dying。 There are questions I can’t answer。 I cannot tell you how you will survive without me。 I cannot tell you how to mourn me。 I cannot convince you to not feel guilty if you forget the anniversary of my death, or if you realize days or weeks or months have gone by without thinking about me。I just want you to live。" 。。。more

I think I have a problem picking books I know aren’t gonna end well! I knew from the title that they were both going to die in the end but bought the book anyways。 This is an extremely sad book that had me crying on the bus when I finished it。 They concept and the way it was written was amazing and really made you think about living your life to the fullest! I recommend this to anybody especially if you need a quick read!

Honestly? I was extremly disappointed。 From the beginning, I knew they would die hence the title。 I bought this book because it was highly recommended to me on tiktok。 It was supposed to make bawl。 I didn't shed a single tear, I didn't even feel sad。 It was a good book, way too overhyped。 It felt like the exciting things were rushed, and very out of place。 Things were thrown in there randomly, and the book was choppy。 When they died, It's sad, but the characters were not relatable at all and I d Honestly? This book is so well-written。 The story is so wholesome and deep even if the end of the story is already clear in the beginning。 I totally love silvera's writing style。 This book is so well-written。 The story is so wholesome and deep even if the end of the story is already clear in the beginning。 I totally love silvera's writing style。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 It’s weird to read a book knowing that the characters will be dead by the end of it- but that by no means made them any less real to me as a reader。 Interesting commentary on fate and what it means to really be alive。 I felt a particular connection to Mateo, and thought there was a lot of thoughtfulness around what it means to be alive but not really live the life you see everyone else living。

Maybe it was just overhyped for me。 I liked the concept and ordinarily, a book might've delved deeper into the Death-Cast, but it was good that they kept it focused on the individual people。 I liked hearing from different points of view and I like that we, the readers, felt as rushed as Mateo and Rufus did。 However, the ending wasn't a big drop or a big end for me。 It seemed anticlimactic and it's not a book I would read again。 Maybe it was just overhyped for me。 I liked the concept and ordinarily, a book might've delved deeper into the Death-Cast, but it was good that they kept it focused on the individual people。 I liked hearing from different points of view and I like that we, the readers, felt as rushed as Mateo and Rufus did。 However, the ending wasn't a big drop or a big end for me。 It seemed anticlimactic and it's not a book I would read again。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I would’ve given it 2 stars BUT I did get a bit sad when Mateo died and left Rufus all alone。 The fact that we had to infer that Rufus died was kinda bad because we don’t get much information as to why he dies。 Like did he get hit by a car? Heart-attack? The first 200 pages were extremely BORING! Once it gets to the part where the Gang with No Name gets the gun, I finally got interested。 But still。 Boring。 I almost DNF’d it。 Would I recommend it? Maybe。 Would I read it again? Definitely not。

I’m still crying from this ending。 As the title already indicates it f*cking sad。 Apart from that this book makes you look at live differently。 It makes you happy for every moment you get to be with the people you love。 It makes you laugh at how you would stress over grades and tests, when in the end it doesn’t matter。 This book destroyed me in the best and worst way possible。 Would recommend if you need to step back from stress and see the things you where stressing over aren’t that important。

Mia

i finished this about an hour ago and this is so so so heartbreaking, if you buy this book please be aware that it is beautifully written but at the same time it will destroy you in the end。

Overall not the worst thing I've read but I was expecting much more from the title and synopsis。 I liked the way in which it was written, the fact that the lives all interacted was really interesting。 I didn't think the author succeeded in handling this large concept of knowing that you're going to die。 I also was not interested in the love aspect at the end of the book, I don't think it added to the book at all。 Overall not the worst thing I've read but I was expecting much more from the title and synopsis。 I liked the way in which it was written, the fact that the lives all interacted was really interesting。 I didn't think the author succeeded in handling this large concept of knowing that you're going to die。 I also was not interested in the love aspect at the end of the book, I don't think it added to the book at all。 。。。more

I wish I liked this more。 I couldn’t get over how Death Cast knew and came to be。 I didn’t find their love believable。 And the middle dragged on。 For some book that was about making the most of the day, they lamented way too much about it being their last。 I don’t know, it just didn’t grab me emotionally and I barely made myself finish it。
